The Trial Eden Independent Film Festival took place at the George Arts Theatre in May. The event, a test run for the Inaugural EIFF to be held in October/November 2015, was a resounding success thanks to the participation of George Municipality, the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund and the Shnit International Short Film Festival.
The afternoon workshops were attended by over 100 filmmakers and students with a full theatre capacity of over 200 for the evening screenings. The films screened were predominantly South African with contributions from France, Australia, Germany and Norway.
Denis Lillie, Cape Film Commission CEO, said “Thanks to our panelists, Greg Latter, Sean Drummond, Alasdair McCullock and Aidan Whytlock who gave the attendees great insight on issues such as script development, fund raising, distribution and general film making during the course of the afternoon.
Special thanks also to the Deputy Mayor of George, Cllr Daniel Maritz, Cllr Kritzinger and Carli Bunding-Venter and the local press and media for all of their support over the weekend and, of course, a huge thank you to those of you who attended and gave your support to this event.”
The event was used as a very successful test screening for the Eden Independent Film Festival which will take place in two locations in George over three days late 2015/early 2016. Details of the festival will be provided on this website and by the Cape Film Commission closer to the time.
